How to Prepare Barbeque Ribs Recipe

Basics Of Barbecue Grilling

I don’t know what it is with my kids, but they never can finish a can of cola. I don’t let them drink it that often, so you think that they’d want to finish the can.

My own wishful thinking, and I can hear my Dad’s words bellowing, but they seems to be coming from my own mouth, " If you can’t finish the can, don’t get one in the first place. I can’t wait until you have to pay for your own soda, lights, gas, ……"

It is a useless endeavor because I know no one is listening to me, but after dumping the last of 3 half empty cans down the sink I remembered a delicious barbecue rib recipe that has a can of coke as an ingredient.

Bbq pork spare ribs are a family favorite, and this barbecue rib recipe is easy to prepare with very little clean up.

Enjoy!

SAUCE

1 Tbsp                       Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/2 tsp                      Granulated Garlic
1/2 tsp                      Pure Chile Powder
1/2 tsp                      Ground Cumin
2/3 Cup                     Ketchup
1/2 Cup                     Cola
2 Tbsp                      Soy Sauce
2 Tbsp                      Cider Vinegar
1/4 tsp                      Freshly Ground Black Pepper
1/8 tsp                      Mesquite liquid smoke

DRY RUB

2 Tbsp                     Kosher Salt
1 Tbsp                     Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp                     Granulated Garlic
1 Tbsp                     Red Chili Powder ( to taste)
1 Tbsp                     Freshly Ground Black pepper
1 tsp                       Sweet Paprika

DIRECTIONS:

1. Creating your delicious sweet cola barbecue sauce

  • Mix all ingredients in bowl, except oil and set aside
  • Heat a medium saucepan to a medium heat setting to warm the oil. Next add the garlic, chili powder, and cumin.
  • Cook for a minute stirring occasionally.
  • Next add the remaining sauce ingredients you set aside, and simmer the sauce over a low heat for about 5 minutes stirring occasionally.

1.    RIB PREPARATION

Remove the thin membrane from the back of each rack of ribs. See video
Cover, and allow the ribs to stand at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes before grilling.

2.    Make the bbq Rib Rub
In a small bowl, mix the dry rub ingredients. Season the ribs evenly with the bbq rib rub, pressing not rubbing the spices into the meat.

3.    Prepare The Grill The Barbecue Ribs

  • Start your grill heat to a low -medium setting. If using charcoal after starting with the chimney starter let the coal burn down to low-med heat of around (grill temperature should be about 300°F).

  • Drain the liquid from the mesquite chips and either toss them onto the burning coals or into the smoking box of a gas grill. Grill the ribs over indirect low heat (about 300°F) until the meat is very tender and has started to shrink and pull back from the ends of the bones, 1-1/2 to 2 hours.

  • 15-30 minutes before the ribs are done, using a brush coat the ribs on both sides with your barbecue sauce.

4. Serving Up Your Barbecue Ribs

  • Remove and transfer the ribs to a baking sheet and tightly cover with aluminum foil. Let the meat rest for 20-30 minutes before serving.

Great recipe thank you! Was wondering if the cumin you call for adds a taco sauce taste to the sauce? I will try this myself.
